Department issues report on water

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

The city water department has mailed to its customers a copy of the consumer-confidence report that contains data about what is in their drinking water.

There are about 65,000 laboratory tests annually performed on 145 contaminants. There were no violations found.

The city purchases about 18 million gallons of water a day from the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District and sells it to customers in the city as well as in Austintown, Boardman, Canfield, Liberty, Mineral Ridge, Girard and North Jackson.

If you have any questions, require further information or want another copy of the report, call the department’s engineering office at 330-742-8765.

The mailing of the report is required as part of the federal Safe Drinking Water Act of 1996.
