Counterfeit bills passed at gas station

YOUNGSTOWN

Police said the owner of the Gateway Gas Mart at 1231 Market St. reported collecting $280 in counterfeit bills from customers over a three-day period.

The money was turned over to authorities Tuesday.

Police said a cashier at the station wrote down the license-plate number of the driver who gave the station a phony $50 bill. That information was given to detectives.
