Pa. tax collections still lagging behind forecasts

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — The Pennsylvania Revenue Department says general-fund revenue collections for May came in nearly $125 million below projections.

The figures released today left the state $1.2 billion below assumptions for the fiscal year that wraps up at the end of June.

Year-to-date collections are running nearly 5 percent less than anticipated.

The weak numbers are an ominous sign for the always contentious state budget talks that will accelerate over the coming weeks.
