A novena to St. Therese of the Child Jesus, “The Little Flower,” is planned at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, next week through Sept. 30, at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, 252 E. Wood St.

St. Therese religious articles will be available for sale.

Anniversary event

The Office of Pro-Life, Marriage and Family Life of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown is sponsoring a wedding anniversary celebration honoring diocesan couples who are observing their 25th, 40th, 50th or more anniversaries in 2010.

Mass will be celebrated by Bishop George V. Murry at 2 p.m. Oct. 3 in St. John the Baptist Church in Canton. Couples will renew their marriage vows and receive a personalized certificate signed by Bishop Murry.

After Mass, a reception hosted by St. John parish will be in the school hall for the couples and their families.

Couples planning to attend this celebration should register at their parish by Aug. 30.

Crusade speaker

SHARON, Pa.

Bill Rudge, internationally known lecturer and author, will speak at “Valley Alive,” a free evangelistic crusade planned Aug. 7 and 8 at Sharon High School by Joshua’s Haven City Mission at 205 Bank Place.

The theme is “Reaching Our Valley for Christ.”

Youth Night will be observed at 6 p.m. Aug. 7 for teens and young adults and will feature Rudge, his son, B.J., and local artists Shane T. Golden, Next Valley Band and 724 Band.

On Aug. 8, Family Night will begin at 7 p.m. with a talk by Rudge.

He will be joined by the Rev. Brian Johnson, a soloist, the Instruments of Praise band, former Shudder lead singer Jay Michael and other artists.

Sherry Swetz is director of Joshua’s Haven, a six-bed shelter for homeless men.

The facility, which is funded by private grants and donations, is filled to capacity and has been forced in the last two months to turn 11 men away. She said she is actively seeking another building in downtown Sharon.

60th anniversary

The 60th anniversary of Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 320 S. Forest St., will be marked at 3:30 p.m. Sunday with speaker, the Rev. Mary Austin of Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church.

Outdoor worship

The evangelism ministry of Tabernacle Baptist Church, 707 Arlington St., will conduct outdoor worship with the theme, “Taking the Gospel to the Streets,” at 5:30 p.m. Friday and Aug. 13.

The services will include preaching, music, testimonies and free food.

Concert by Glicks

The Glick family will present a concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Bible Church, 2878 Warren Meadville Road.

Six members of the family have recorded an album “He Is Everything To Me.” Loren Glick, who sings and plays guitar, will perform with five of his children, who sing and play banjo, fiddle, guitar and mandolin.

A nursery will be provided; a love offering will be taken.

Clergywomen event

Interdenominational Clergywomen Alliance will sponsor its third annual community banquet at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at Everlife Worship Center, 474 Early Road.

The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Gena Thornton, pastor of Grace African Methodist Episcopal Church in Warren.

Tickets are $20 per person. Net proceeds will benefit the ICA scholarship program to empower women to further their education. The organization also mentors young women.
