Scrappers shut out against Jamestown

Staff report

Jamestown, N.Y.

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers were shut out for the ninth time this season in a 5-0 loss to the Jamestown Jammers on Friday.

The Scrappers (15-26) had just five hits, while allowing 11 to the Jammers (23-16). Rookie Alex Kaminsky took the loss, thanks to a stagnant offense.

Kaminsky (4-3) gave up six hits and two runs in his four innings. He had six strikeouts and didn’t walk a batter.

But the Scrappers hitters couldn’t put anything together at the plate; something that has plagued the club all season.

Jamestown scored two runs in the first inning off of Kaminsky. The first came on a wild pitch by Kaminsky, which scored Daniel Black, who had tripled in his at bat. The other run came off a base hit by Noah Perio, which scored Aaron Senne from second base.

The Jammers added three more runs in the seventh inning to put the game away.

The Scrappers will return home to face Williamsport tonight at 7:05 p.m.
