Bishop George V. Murry has appointed the Rev. Nicholas Shori to the position of director of Parish Plan Implementation, effective Aug. 15.

As director, Father Shori will implement the Diocesan Strategic Plan for Parishes, accepted in May, and will work with pastors, parish staff and parish consultative bodies to effect mergers and collaborative units.

He will facilitate the preparation of all canonical decrees and documents and all civil documents required for mergers and collaborative units, and will serve as an ad hoc adviser to the Priests’ Personnel Board and other diocesan structures as needed.

Father Shori also will assume the role of director of Continuing Education of Priests.

Father Shori was ordained June 8, 1974. He previously served as assistant pastor at St. Luke Church in Boardman, as a faculty member at Cardinal Mooney High School, as chaplain and director of the pastoral-care department at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown and as pastor at St. Robert Church in Cortland.

He also has served as diocesan liaison for charismatic prayer groups and chaplain for the Knights of Columbus.

His most recent assignment has been pastor at St. Paul Church in New Middletown. He is dean of Mahoning County South Deanery.
