New Waterford church to host OverF.L.O.W. event

Staff report

NEW WATERFORD

Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 state Route 46, will sponsor its second annual August OverF.L.O.W. next weekend.

F.L.O.W., a community activity, grew out of the Fresh Level of Worship services at the church on Friday evenings.

Free food, school supplies, clothing and haircuts will be available. There also will be games, music, a speaker, a car show and other activities during the two-day event.

Last year, more than 160 children from nearly 80 families in the region received school supplies. More than 40 people received haircuts, and hundreds of people received free food and clothing.

Next Saturday’s activities will be:

A school-supply giveaway scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. is co-sponsored by The Way Station. It specifically targets students in the Crestview, Columbiana, East Palestine, Leetonia, Beaver Local and Lisbon school districts. Parents who want their children to receive school supplies must bring a driver’s license showing where they live and a recent report card identifying their child’s school. The school supplies are for students in kindergarten through the 12th grade. Students from other districts will not be turned away but will be served during the last hour.

Clothing giveaways and free haircuts, also from 1 to 4 p.m., are open to all.

Bounce-a-Rounds, offered around the property from noon to 5 p.m., will feature a host of games. There will be prizes.

A slate of musicians, including Kelly Williams, Marla Hum, Julie Benner and the Abundant Life youth worship team, will perform in the afternoon.

Pastor Ken Paramore, founder of Paramore Ministries and Christian Revival and Discipleship Center in Youngstown, will be the featured speaker on an outdoor stage near the George C. Welker Jr. ball field. He’ll take the stage between 7 and 8 p.m.

Aug. 8 activities include:

A classic-car show will start at 12:30 p.m., after the regular morning-worship service. All area residents with a show car, truck or motorcycle may enter. Free registration will take place from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. After that, it will cost $5. Prizes will be awarded for best of show and first, second and third places. Food will be served. Festivities that day should conclude by 3 p.m. There will be no evening worship service Aug. 8.

Food, including barbecued chicken, hot dogs, burgers, side dishes, popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy and beverages, will be served from noon to 5 p.m. both days inside and outside the fellowship hall.
