High-risk insurance available

Applications for Ohio’s temporary high-risk insurance pool will be available Sunday. Qualified Ohio residents who have been uninsured for six months and have been unable to obtain health coverage because of pre-existing medical conditions may apply. Under the program, qualified applicants will be eligible to receive a range of benefits, including primary and specialty care, hospital care and prescription-drug coverage.

Downloadable application forms and enrollment information will be posted online at www.ohioriskpool.com. Requests for applications and information by mail can be made beginning Monday by calling 877-730-1117.

Funding for the high-risk pool is limited, so those interested are encouraged to submit applications and required documentation as soon as possible.

The pool will be administered by Medical Mutual of Ohio through an arrangement with the federal government.
