Canfield 10-year-old team heads to state

Neighbors | Submitted .Canfield's 10-year-old All Star team enjoyed support from their older siblings and friends. The crew attended the July 19 game with flags and body paint.

The Canfield Baseball Club’s 10-year-old team won the District 2 Championship 11-5 July 19 against Austintown and will travel to Ironton, Ohio, to represent Little League District 2 in the State Little League Tournament in August. To get to the finals, the team defeated Boardman’s Community Baseball team 8-1 in the district semifinals July 18 at the Field of Dreams.

Pitchers Nick O’Hara, Jack Rafoth and Dominique Velasquez scattered five hits and one run over six innings.

At the plate, Angelo Petracci hit a home run and earned two RBIs and Velasquez was 4-for-4 with four RBIs and one run. Ian McGraw had two RBIs and Rafoth scored two runs.
