1080 Media is last area team in CABA

Summit City Sluggers and Dayton Dodgers both won two games at Cene Park on Friday, advancing to the championship game of the winners’ bracket at the CABA World Series.

Summit City Sluggers, the No. 8 seed, defeated the top seed North Coast Vipers, 7-6, in their first game on Friday, then defeated the Michiana Scrappers 12-1, in their second game.

The Dayton Dodgers, the No. 6 seed, defeated Ohio Glaciers, 9-3, in their first game of the day, then returned to shut out Stark County Terriers, 8-0.

Also, 1080 lost its first game, 4-1, to Stark County Terriers, before defeating Ohio Glaciers 8-7 in a consolation game.

Against the Glaciers, Kyle Tisdale hit a triple and scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh on a passed ball.

Tisdale also hit a double and RBI single, and Tyler Hartman pitched a complete game for the win.

Sam Porter and Colin Bowser had doubles for the Glaciers, and Greg Greve had a two-run single.

In the other first-round game, the No. 4 seed Michiana Scrappers defeated No. 5 Chardon Blizzard, 5-4.

Against the Terriers, Dan Popio led 1080 Media with a double, scoring Joe Aulizia with the team’s only run.

No information was received on the Glaciers’ loss to the Dodgers.

In another consolation game, North Coast Vipers defeated Chardon Blizzard, 10-0.

Action resumes today at 2 p.m. at Cene Park.

The Sluggers-Dodgers game will be played on Field 1, while Stark Terriers will play North Coast Vipers on Field 2, and 1080 Media will play Michiana Scrappers on Field 3.

The latter two games are consolation semifinals. At 5 p.m., the winners of those two games will play on Field 1, with the winner returning at 7:30 p.m. to face the loser of the Sluggers-Dodgers contest.
