Carlton pieces in new art gallery

YOUNGSTOWN

“Some Version of the Truth,” a retrospective of work by artist Jack Carlton, is being exhibited at the new Coy Cornelius Art Gallery, 1931 Belmont Ave. An artist’s reception will be at 7 p.m. Saturday. Gallery hours are noon to 3 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

For the past 10 years, Carlton has been the coordinator of the Murals Project: Museum Without Walls and has been responsible for the installation of more than 50 public art murals in downtown Youngstown.

He also teaches studio art at Youngstown State University and Hiram College.

Many of Carlton’s works, especially his artist books and sculpture, are in public and private collections.
