Ohio Glaciers advance in CABA

Ohio Glaciers defeated the Philadelphia Reds, 10-3, in the final day of pool play at the CABA World Series at Cene Park on Thursday.

Ohio Glaciers improved to 4-1 in the tournament. Thursday’s late games were not reported.

Sutton Whiting had three hits for the Glaciers, including a double, while Sam Porter had three hits and two RBIs.

Kevin Jovanovich added a double and two RBIs, while Dan Mioni hit a double and Sean Gabridi had three RBIs.

Eric Rossi hit a three-run homer for the Reds.

Bracket play in the tournament begins today at 2 p.m., with the Glaciers joined by 1080 Media, North Coast Vipers, Summit City Sluggers, Michiana Scrappers, Chardon Blizzard, Stark County Terriers and Dayton Dodgers in the double-elimination format.

Joe Aulizia picked up the win, pitching five innings, giving up no runs on three hits while striking out six.

Aulizia helped his own cause with two hits, while Justin Vrable had a triple.

Michiana Scrappers 3, Rondinelli Tuxedo 2

Ryan Morris went all nine innings for Rondinelli, allowing two earned runs and striking out 13. Dom DeFelice and Tony Koch had two hits for Rondinelli.

NABF WORLD SERIES

Dave Sugar was held to just four hits and allowed runs in the second and fifth innings of its 2-0 loss to the Houston Raiders in the NABF World Series.

Mississippi Gold Spikes 7, Dave Sugar Excavating 6

The Gold Spikes scored three runs on no hits in the bottom of the seventh.

The winning run came when Tyler Copeland scored on a failed double-play attempt by Sugar.

Shortstop Cody Herald was spiked and his throw to Jordan Izzo went wide of the mark.
