POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

July 23

Theft: A man reported property stolen from a room he rented in the 20 block of South Main Street.

Criminal damaging: A mailbox in the 3400 block of Creed Avenue was struck and damaged.

Criminal damaging: Someone apparently used mechanical means to damage a roof in the 10 block of McKinley Street.

Assault: A report was filed from the 40 block of Westview Avenue.

July 24

Criminal damaging: A Fifth Avenue woman reported finding sugar in her car’s gas tank.

July 25

Arrest: Police picked up Timothy Brown, no information given, near U.S. Route 62 on a warrant charging him with failing to appear for a violation-of-probation hearing.

July 26

Criminal damaging: Someone damaged a storage shed in the 1800 block of Myron Street by continually striking it with golf balls.

Recovered property: Two bicycles an East Park Avenue man had reported stolen were found.

Vehicle theft: A man reported the theft of his all-terrain vehicle in the 300 block of South Main Street.

July 27

Harassment: A Stewart Avenue woman told police her daughter and daughter’s friend have been receiving such calls.

LIBERTY

July 24

Criminal damaging: Holes were found in a truck’s windshield, apparently from a pellet gun, in the 10 block of Tuttle Lane.

Theft: A Youngstown boy, 16, faced charges of theft and menacing after $25 worth of candy and food was stolen from Rite Aid Pharmacy, 2704 Belmont Ave. The teen also had threatened an employee, a report said.

Burglary: Occurred in the 300 block of Beverly Hills Drive after someone pried open the front door, though it appeared nothing was stolen.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a home in the 4600 block of Logan Way via the front door and may have removed copper tubing, flooding the basement.

Arrest: Authorities responded to possible gunshots on Trumbull Court before arresting 63-year-old Larry Patterson, 25 Trumbull Court, on charges of aggravated menacing, tampering with evidence, being a convicted felon with a firearm and obstructing official business. Witnesses said Patterson pointed a gun at one of two people in a fight, then returned and fired one round in the air, though no one was hurt, and police found no casings, a report showed.

Domestic violence: A 15-year-old boy was arrested at his township residence and charged with the crime after his sister alleged the irate teen had pushed her, causing her to fall backward into a chair.

Arrest: Struthers police handed 48-year-old John W. Bishop, 519 Maplewood Ave., Struthers, to township authorities. Bishop was wanted on a warrant.

Domestic violence: Liberty police took custody of Mark Banez, 48, of 2144 Garden Land Drive, Niles, who was wanted on a warrant charging him.

Arrest: Dale Peterman, 19, of 1894 Cordova Ave., Youngstown, was picked up at the Mahoning County jail on a warrant from Liberty accusing him of failure to appear in court.

Theft: A charge was pending against a 40-year-old township man who was detained at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. He reportedly had removed the price tag from a rug, then exchanged the item for money.

July 25

Burglary: A 14-year-old Girard boy and a Youngstown boy, 15, were charged after someone had climbed through a second-floor window to a residence in the 1900 block of Oriel-Rogers Road and took medications, food and a cooler.

Theft: A charge was pending against a Girard man, 20, after he was accused of removing price tags from two fishing poles at Walmart and later exchanging the items for an $89 gift card.

July 26

Arrest: U.S. marshals arrested 20-year-old Khaleb Y. Bonner, 2930 Biscayne Ave., Youngstown, on an outstanding warrant from the township charging him with burglary and felonious assault.

Theft/criminal damaging: A woman stole a $9 item from Rite Aid Pharmacy and, while fleeing, knocked over and damaged several cases of soda.

Theft: Numerous tools were taken from vehicles someone had entered at a Tibbetts-Wick Road business.

Identity fraud: An elderly Goldie Road woman discovered $540 of unauthorized electronic withdrawals had been made to her savings account over a two-month period.

Criminal damaging: A woman purposely drove through and left ruts in two front yards in the 400 block of Thomas Lane.

July 27

Arrest: The Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force turned over to Liberty authorities 57-year-old Lee V. Branch, 464 W. Ravenwood Ave., Youngstown, who was wanted on charges of theft, aggravated menacing and violating conditions of his probation.

Aggravated menacing: A Tuttle Drive woman reported a 22-year-old Youngstown man threatened to burn down a trailer park after he had been removed.

Identity theft: A West Montrose Street man accused a former roommate of stealing two checks and depleting his account of 1,033.

Damage: Someone deliberately cut the lines to two air-conditioning units at a doctor’s office in the 500 block of Gypsy Lane.

July 28

Recovered property: A $50 abandoned bicycle was found near Keefer Road.

GIRARD

July 25

Burglary: To a residence in the 40 block of East Second Street through a rear door. Stolen were two laptop computers, $550, an MP3 player and a global- positioning-system device.

July 26

Criminal trespassing: Officers issued a summons to 18-year-old Haley E. Bianco, 401 Church Hill Road, Girard, after a friend alleged Bianco had entered her apartment without permission as she slept, then asked the accuser for a ride.

Assault: A Trumbull Avenue man reported having been punched on the left side of his face and eye when he refused to give the other person a ride.

Theft: A debit card, an MP3 player and a GPS unit were taken from a vehicle in the 500 block of Washington Avenue.

July 27

Criminal mischief: BBs were shot at a residence and swimming pool in the 300 block of Mosier Road.

Aggravated menacing: A Dearborn Avenue woman reported a man threatened to come to her home with a shotgun.

July 28

Assault: A Church Hill Road woman told officers another woman forcibly placed her hand over the accuser’s mouth during an argument related to a civil matter.

Aggravated menacing: Two Trumbull Avenue residents reported two people came to their home and threatened them with bodily harm.

Theft: A wallet and other items were missing from a vehicle in the 400 block of North Avenue.
