John A. McNALLY IV

1987: Graduates from Ursuline High School.

1991: Receives bachelor of science from Georgetown University.

1996: Receives law degree and master of public administration from Cleveland Marshall College of Law.

March 1998: Hired as an assistant Youngstown city law director.

April 2002: Appointed city law director by Mayor George McKelvey.

2004: Wins Democratic primary and general election to become Mahoning County commissioner Jan. 1, 2005.

May 2006: Casts sole dissenting vote among the three commissioners against the county’s purchase of Oakhill Renaissance Place.

2008: Re-elected commissioner.

Michael V. SCIORTINO

Education: Law degree and master’s in public administration.

1993-96: Assistant Mahoning County administrator.

1996-99: Deputy director of the Mahoning County Board of Elections.

1999-2005: Director of the Mahoning County Board of Elections.

September 2005: Elected county auditor by the Mahoning County Democratic precinct committee members to replace George J. Tablack, who left for a job in Florida and quickly returned to become Mahoning County budget director and administrator.

2006: Retains his seat as county auditor by being elected by the county’s voters and refuses to issue the check for the county’s purchase of Oakhill Renaissance Place.

July 2007: Immediately issues the $75,000 check for the county’s purchase of Oakhill Renaissance Place after Judge Richard M. Markus orders him to do so at the end of the trial, in which the Cafaro Co. unsuccessfully sought to rescind the county’s purchase of Oakhill.

May 2010: Wins the Democratic primary in the county auditor’s race by almost a 2-1 margin over his challenger, Andrew D’Apolito.

John B. REARDON

1979: Receives bachelor of business administration from Kent State University.

1985: Receives master’s degree in economics from Youngstown State University.

Employment: Business manager in small companies and Fortune 500 corporations and YSU economics instructor before becoming county treasurer.

1998: Appointed county treasurer by the county Democratic Party to replace George M. McKelvey, who resigned to become Youngstown mayor.

2000: Elected to a four-year term as treasurer.

2004: Re-elected treasurer.

August 2005: Announces his candidacy for state auditor, but withdraws from the 2006 Democratic primary race.

February 2007: Resigns as treasurer to become state superintendent of financial institutions.

May 2010: Resigns as state superintendent of financial institutions.

MARTIN YAVORCIK

1991: Graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School.

1995: Bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University, with a major in criminal justice. Founder and president of the Youngstown State Young Democrats.

1996: Attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Lansing, Mich.

1997: Transferred to Case Western Reserve School of Law, Cleveland, where he graduated.

1999: Passes Ohio State Bar Examination and admitted into private practice. Also served as an assistant Youngstown city prosecutor.

2003: Started the Mahoning County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.

2008: Lost his bid to unseat incumbent Paul Gains as Mahoning County prosecutor. John J., Anthony M. Sr., and Flora M. Cafaro donated a total of $120,000 to his campaign.

JOHN ZACHARIAH

2005: Hired by county commissioners as director of the department of Job and Family Services. He replaced Delores Crawford who had retired. Before taking the job here, he served as Franklin County JFS director in Columbus.

2007: Resigns as JFS director, claiming a lack of communication in county government and interference by the county’s administrator did not allow him to effectively do his job.
