Free T’ai Chi class in Boardman

Boardman Park invites the community to attend a free T’ai Chi Chih class and demonstration from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The program will be at the boccie court.

The participatory class will be taught by Lucinda Kutsko, certified T’ai Chi Chih instructor. A full T’ai Chi Chih practice will be demonstrated by advanced students at 6:30 p.m.

T’ai Chi Chih is a set of 19 movements and one pose focused on the development of an intrinsic energy called chi, according to taichichih.org website. Chi is the Chinese word used to describe “the natural energy of the Universe.”

The T’ai Chi Chih beginner’s course” is eight, one-hour classes once a week. There are two courses from which to choose. The Monday seniors course begins Aug. 9 from 10 to 11 a.m. and meets at the Lariccia Community Center. This course fee is $40.

The course on Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. begins Aug. 10 and meets at the boccie court. This course fee is $80. Classes for advanced students are every Wednesday at the boccie court from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Classes are open to men, women and teens. Pre-registration is required. Call Kutsko at 330-727-4477 to register for the free Wednesday class and for the full courses.
