Worker struck and killed in Ohio construction zone

RICHFIELD, Ohio (AP) — A construction worker has been struck and killed while on the job along an interstate highway in Ohio.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 41-year-old Randy Roginski was hit by a passing vehicle late Tuesday night. He’d been standing on the right shoulder alongside a single lane of traffic open on Interstate 271 just north of I-77 near Richfield, 17 miles south of Cleveland in northeast Ohio. The other lane was closed for repaving.

The patrol says Roginski, of North Royalton, was wearing a reflective vest at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have interviewed the driver of the vehicle, 49-year-old Anthony Jones of Twinsburg. No charges have been filed. The patrol says the accident remains under investigation.
