WARREN

Anthony Tvaroch, a Newton Township man on administrative leave from his job as a Warren Township police officer, has pleaded innocent to aggravated burglary.

Tvaroch pleaded innocent Monday in Warren Municipal Court, where Judge Terry Ivanchak issued a temporary restraining order.

The judge’s order seeks to keep Tvaroch away from a woman living on Anderson Avenue in Howland whose house he is accused of breaking into early Sunday.

Tvaroch, 36, of Salt Springs Road, was arrested at the Anderson Avenue home about 2 a.m. after the woman said Tvaroch assaulted her, Howland police said.

If convicted of the charge, Tvaroch, who is free after posting $150,000 bond, could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison. He returns to court at 2 p.m. Monday.

Tvaroch has been on administrative leave from his police job since Magistrate Patrick McCarthy of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court issued a civil stalking protection order against Tvaroch on July 16. That order also prevented him from carrying a gun.

The common-pleas protection order was issued after a Warren woman accused Tvaroch of committing a sex offense against her at a Warren tavern in January. No charges were filed against Tvaroch in that case.

The woman involved in Sunday’s episode had also sought a protection order against Tvaroch in common-pleas court in April, but McCarthy dismissed the case at the woman’s request July 1.
