Laura Jane Marinelli and Stephen Paul Hancock, both of Pittsburgh, were united in marriage Nov. 21, 2009, at Heinz Memorial Chapel in Pittsburgh.

The Rev. Sandra Monahan officiated at the 4:30 p.m. ceremony, and a reception followed at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall Ballroom in Pittsburgh.

The daughter of Joseph and Jane Marinelli of Boardman and son of Richard and Teresa Hancock of Pittsburgh honeymooned in Riviera Maya, Mexico, and now live in Los Angeles.

The bride’s strapless ivory gown featured a beaded bodice, dropped waist and full skirt.

Cabernet-colored gowns in a variety of styles were worn by the bride’s sister and honor attendant, Kristine Packo, and the bridesmaids, Tonya Caralla, Heather Hendrickson, Lori Keating, Julia Van Keissel, and the groom’s sister, Sarah Rodriguez. Flower girl was Catherine Lorenzi.

Kevin Hancock served as best man for his brother, and groomsmen were Daniel Hancock, the groom’s brother; Douglas Hancock and Regis Rumpf, his cousins; Louis Muth; and Matthew Packo, the bride’s brother-in-law.

The bride, who is retaining her maiden name, graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and earned a doctorate in molecular biology from the University of Pittsburgh.

The groom received a bachelor’s degree in biology from York College of Pennsylvania and a doctorate in molecular biology from the University of Pittsburgh.

The bride and groom are post-doctoral fellows with UCLA-David Geffen School of Medicine, where she is in the department of medicine and he is in the department of biological chemistry.
