Opera preview includes discussion

YOUNGSTOWN

Members of the Opera Western Reserve Young Artists program will give a preview performance of the arias and other music from “La Traviata” at 7 p.m. Monday at Universal Caf in First Unitarian Universalist Church on the corner of Elm Street and Illinois Avenue.

Performers will chat with the audience about the music, composer and story, and include the audience in an improvisational segment. Suggested donation is $3. Refreshments will be available.

Opera Western Reserve will present “La Traviata” Nov. 12 at Stambaugh Auditorium.

Elvis documentary at Tinseltown

BOARDMAN

A one-time showing of the documentary “Elvis on Tour: 75th Anniversary Celebration” will be shown at theaters around the country, including Tinseltown in Boardman, at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The two-hour Warner Bros. film commemorates the 75th anniversary of Presley’s birth and features never-before-seen footage. More than 25 musical numbers are included in the film, which chronicles Presley’s 1972 tour. Montage sequences supervised by director Martin Scorsese showcase Presley’s early career in music and movies. “Elvis on Tour” won a Golden Globe for best documentary.

Brooks & Dunn concert advisory

PITTSBURGH

Friday’s Brooks & Dunn-Gary Allan concert at First Niagara Pavilion is sold out, according to Live Nation.

Parking lots will open at 3 p.m.; doors open at 6:30 p.m. Concert-goers are advised to allow plenty of time to get to the show. Carpooling is strongly encouraged. No tickets will be sold at the box office on the night of the show. Tickets must be shown for entry into the parking lot.

Chelsea Handler coming to Consol

PITTSBURGH

Comedian Chelsea Handler, with opening act Heather McDonald, will come to Consol Energy Center on Dec. 4. Tickets are $75 and $55 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at Livenation.com, all Ticketmaster outlets and by phone at 1-800-745-300.
