The city will solicit bids for three road projects.

The city council has called a special meeting tonight to authorize Ed Wildes, safety services director, to advertise for bids. The projects are on Clingan Road and Maplewood and Frank streets.

The Clingan Road project is a safety upgrade to keep water from ponding on the road, said Mayor Terry Stocker. It includes the installation of storm sewers, widening the road by 4 feet and curbing.

The project will cost $304,400, he said, with $210,000 coming from an Ohio Department of Public Works grant. The city will pick up $94,364 of the cost, with $55,000 coming from the stormwater fund and $44,352 coming from the permissive-tax fund, he said.

On Maplewood Street, culvert replacement will include replacing a storm- sewer pipe under the road, Stocker said. The city will pick up $44,438 of the cost and finance $143,350 of the project, he said. The loan will be paid back over a 20-year period.

The Frank Street project is road resurfacing with $32,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds, Stocker said.

Stocker estimated that the projects will begin in mid-September and be finished by the end of October.
