Boardman will play Mount Vernon in the semifinals of the consolation bracket of the state 12-year-old Little League tournament today at 2 p.m.

Both Boardman and Mount Vernon are 2-1.

Boardman, comprised of 11 12-year-olds and one 11-year-old — pitcher Lou Cardona — beat Ashtabula, 10-1, on Tuesday.

Cardona struck out nine and gave up four hits over six innings.

Gino Beato went 3 for 4 with a two-run homer and two doubles, Devon Curd also went 3 for 4 with two singles and a double, and Trent Humphreys hit a solo home run.

Beato’s homer came with two outs in the first inning, while Humphreys’ homer came in the third.

Of the four hits allowed by Cardona, Ashtabula’s run came on a solo home run.

North Canton and Hamilton, both 2-0, play at 5 p.m. in the winner’s bracket final.

CABA world series

Philadelphia Reds defeated Rondinelli, 10-4, in pool play at the CABA World Series at Cene Park on Monday night.

Games played on Tuesday night were not reported before deadline, although it was known Rondinelli lost to Chardon Blizzard, 12-0.

Against Philadelphia Reds, Rondinelli got a double by Alex Stephens and a two-run single by Cody Kirk, but the Reds broke a 4-4 tie with six runs in the fifth inning.

Brent Messett also had a RBI single for the Class B League champions, who are 0-3 in the World Series.
