New Brazil coach Mano Menezes chose a young roster Monday for the Selecao’s first match after the World Cup, picking AC Milan forward Alexandre Pato, Santos scoring sensation Neymar and Santos midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso for the Aug. 10 exhibition against the United States.
Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva, Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva and Real Madrid defender Marcelo also are on the 24-man roster for the match at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
Team to be investigated over cycling jerseys

Lance Armstrong’s RadioShack team is facing disciplinary proceedings because its riders wore unapproved jerseys to the Tour de France’s final stage, causing a 20-minute delay at the start.
The cyclists tried to wear black jerseys Sunday with “28” on the back. The number honors the 28 million people fighting cancer, a theme of Armstrong’s Livestrong Foundation.
Cycling’s governing body said Monday that RadioShack will be investigated for “breaching the regulations governing riders’ clothing.”
The International Cycling Union adds that it “regrets that an initiative for a cause as worthy as the fight against cancer” was not coordinated beforehand with officials.
MLS Chicago trades Mapp to Philadelphia
CHICAGO
Midfielder Justin Mapp has been traded from Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire to the expansion Philadelphia Union for allocation money.
Mapp was drafted by D.C. United as the league’s fourth overall pick in 2002 and joined the Fire a year later.
He had 14 goals and 36 assists in 174 games with the Fire.
Giant Moon takes Evan Shipman at Saratoga

Favorite Giant Moon rallied strongly to overtake Icabad Crane and Groomedforvictory in the final strides and win the $70,000 Evan Shipman Stakes by a neck Monday at Saratoga Race Course.
Edgar Prado rode the 5-year-old, Rick Schosberg-trained Giant Moon, who earned $42,000 for his eighth victory from 15 career starts. He ran 11/8 miles in 1:49.24 over a fast track in a race restricted to horses bred in New York.
Wizards down Man U, sell 700 season tickets
KANSAS CITY, Mo.
The Kansas City Wizards say they sold 700 season tickets after their exhibition win over Manchester United.
The Wizards beat the English power 2-1 Sunday on goals by Davy Arnaud and Kei Kamara before 52,342 at Arrowhead Stadium, the largest crowd to ever watch a soccer match in Kansas City.
Team spokesman Rob Thomson said Monday the new tickets were sold as the team opened the first 2,011 season tickets for next year to sales following the victory over the Red Devils.
Contador soars in Spain’s super summer

Alberto Contador returned home Monday and presented a replica of his yellow Tour de France jersey to the prime minister of Spain, who is fast becoming an old hand at these sorts of things.
Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero seems to be spending his summer greeting triumphant homegrown athletes.
“Spanish sport is on a spectacular streak,” he said.
Shock complete roster flip in trade with Lynx
TULSA, Okla.
The last-place Tulsa Shock sent guard Alexis Hornbuckle to the Minnesota Lynx on Monday for forward Rashanda McCants, completing an overhaul of the team’s roster in the months since it relocated from Detroit.
Hornbuckle, who was averaging 5.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, was the last player remaining from the Shock’s days in Detroit, which included three WNBA championships.
