Down syndrome gallery at mall

NILES

The “I Have a Voice” exhibition, sponsored locally by the Down Syndrome Association of the Valley, will open today at 5 p.m. with a reception in the main entrance corridor at Eastwood Mall.

The exhibition is a collection of portraits of children and adults with Down syndrome that captures their wisdom and strength. The portraits, paired with quotations, allow audiences to get to know these often-inspiring individuals. Created by Gigi’s Playhouse, Chicago ideas company BAGBY and photographer Thomas Balsamo, the exhibition debuted in 2008 in Chicago.

After the exhibition closes at Eastwood, it will move to the Buddy Walk of the Valley at the Shops at Boardman Park on Aug. 14; and in front of Macy’s in Southern Park Mall from Aug. 14 to 23.
