Eastern Gateway Community College is offering free help for anyone in need of direction and assistance with future career and education goals.

The Career Kickoff Workshop is set for 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Columbiana County One Stop, 7860 Lincole Place..

Area residents who want to explore career options and goals should attend the career decision-making workshop.

Helping individuals to develop an education and career plan leading to employment and economic self-sufficiency is the goal of the workshop. Activities are designed for individuals who are undecided about their career goals and not sure what kind of education and training will be best for them.

The session will increase the participant’s awareness of individual strengths, interests and abilities in relation to selected career goals and the identification of the potential challenges and barriers to accomplishing these goals.

Individuals in hands-on sessions will identify interests and skills, determine work values and needs, explore careers in fields with expected growth and develop a workable career plan.

Those who complete the workshop will leave with the tools necessary to begin an education and employment plan and will identify the resources necessary for the next step, Eastgate officials said.

Outcomes may include enrollment in a post-secondary education program, participation in on-the-job training, or transition directly into employment.

The assessment is open to all residents who are caught in a career decision-making quandary.

Advanced registration is required and may be made by calling Terry Shifflet, Eastern Gateway representative, at 330- 884-0866.
