1080 Media wins 2 at CABA event

1080 Media of the Youngstown Class B League won two games on the opening day of the CABA World Series at Cene Park on Monday.

1080 media defeated Pro Swing Pride, 8-3, and Michiana Scrappers, 9-0, as the tournament began pool play.

Rondinelli lost to the Dayton Dodgers, 4-1, while the Ohio Glaciers also won two games.

The Glaciers defeated Lyndora Lancers, 8-0, and the Michiana Scrappers, 5-3.

Against Pro Swing Pride, 1080 Media was led by Dan Popio and Anthony Raschilla, who hit back-to-back homers.

Brad Smith was the winning pitcher, coming on in relief of Matt Shelton.

Justin Vrable added a double for 1080 Media, and Kyle Tisdale singled twice.

Chris Fumasoli hit a double for Pro Swing Pride.

Against the Scrappers, Shelton hit a triple, while Raschilla and Joey Aulizia hit doubles. Cavan Cohoes added two singles and four RBIs.

Tyler Hartman was the winning pitcher, tossing a six-inning two-hitter.

The Dayton Dodgers scored three runs in the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie against Rondinelli.

Rondinelli was led by Dom Defelice with two singles, but they could only manage three more hits. Brent Messett had one, a run-scoring single in the first inning.

The Dodgers tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a triple by Danny Dotson and a double by Ian Huss. Ryan Ekberg had a two-run triple for the Dodgers in the fourth inning.
