James Christopher Barber and Danielle Marie Duerr were united in marriage at 4 p.m. May 15 at the Goat Island Lighthouse on the grounds of historic Newport Harbor.

After the ceremony a cocktail reception took place on Narragansett Bay, and a dinner reception followed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel’s Rosecliff Island Ballroom.

The bride is the daughter of Karl and Gail Duerr of Canton, Conn., and the groom is the son of James and Angelica Barber of Poland.

Parents of the groom hosted a postnuptial reception at The Lake Club in Poland.

The bride wore a strapless satin gown with a headpiece and a floor-length veil. In her bouquet she carried a rosary blessed by Pope John Paul II.

Susannah Cronin was the maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Molly Hood, Helena Wester, Kendra Miller and Melanie Nolan. They all wore ocean blue gowns. The flower girl was Elliana Wester, the bride’s niece.

Performing the duties of best man was Craig Maline, and groomsmen were Kevin Kilbane, Sammy Tufaro, Dominic Tocco III and the groom’s cousin, Joe Pellegrini.

Mrs. Barber earned a bachelor’s degree at Johnson & Wales University. She is employed as the director of corporate and association sales for Ocean Edge Resort and Club of Cape Cod in Brewster, Mass. She is also the co-owner of the Bass River Marina on Cape Cod.

Mr. Barber earned a bachelor’s degree at Kent State University. He is employed as the director of sales for Sunrise Assisted Living of the South Shore in southeast Massachusetts.

After a honeymoon in Aruba, the Barbers reside in West Barnstable, Mass., on Cape Cod.
