Poland Seminary High School hosted a girls basketball camp July 12-15 for students entering the fourth through sixth-grade.

Students rotated through several stations focusing on ball handling, passing, shooting form and endurance. High school girls basketball members helped with coaching the future players during the camp.

Poland middle school basketball coach Nick Blanch said the camp was intended to introduce students to the sport and provide them with the tools needed to develop skills. Students cannot join the school basketball team until they reach middle school. The camp gets the students involved and familiar with the sport prior to seventh grade.

“This lays a foundation for basketball and prepares them for the team in middle school,” Blanch said.
