The children of Austintown Baptist Church saddled up for Jesus July 12-16.

The church’s Vacation Bible School included activities planned around a Western theme called Saddle Ridge Ranch. The purpose was to educate the children how they can translate the Bible into their day-to-day life.

While the purpose was serious, activities director Virginia Mears tried to make Bible school fun, with plenty of food, crafts, outdoor games and singing and dancing.

The kids rotated between stations. Jean Warner taught the children Bible study. Kathy Wheeler played various games outside with the students. Every hour, Mary Nelle Jones taught the kids about missionaries, and how, along with spreading the word of God, they bring many countries food, fresh water, medicine, and teach them how to better farm and raise animals.
