“The Pillars of the Earth” (10 p.m., Starz): We always could use a juicy tale of treachery and intrigue. Hence, “The Pillars of the Earth,” an eight-part miniseries based on Ken Follett’s best-seller. Set in 12th-century England, it’s about a power struggle to determine the rightful heir to King Henry’s throne. The cast includes Ian McShane, Donald Sutherland, Allison Pill and Rufus Sewell.

Cavo coming to Club Gossip

Biker trivia run at Quaker Steak

SHARON, Pa.

A biker trivia run to benefit the Down Syndrome Association of the Valley will be Saturday. Registration is $15 and will begin at 11 a.m. at the Quaker Steak and Lube in Austintown. It includes a buffet at Quaker Steak & Lube in Sharon after the bike run, from 4 to 6 p.m. Each biker will receive 15 trivia questions pertaining to the route, which includes stops at the Lake Tavern, Conneaut Lake Park and the Jug Handle. The one who answers the most correctly will be the winner.

Bashir leaving ABC

“Nightline” co-anchor Martin Bashir is leaving ABC News to become an anchor for MSNBC and a contributor to “Dateline NBC.” NBC announced Thursday that Bashir will anchor a daily afternoon program on MSNBC in addition to his new role with “Dateline NBC.” The switch will take effect in September.
