James E. Armour is the new executive director of Catholic Charities of Stark County, an affiliate agency of the Diocese of Youngstown Catholic Charities Corp.

It is based at 3112 Cleveland Ave. NW, Canton, and operates adult day-services sites in Massillon and Louisville. He succeeds Diana Gray Stromsky, who served Catholic Charities in various capacities since 2004.

Armour was hired as the associate director of the Golden Age Centers of Greater Cleveland in 2006, eventually becoming chief operating officer in 2007. He served the organization as president and CEO since 2008.

He has a bachelor’s degree in religious studies from the University of Dayton, a master of divinity degree from the University of St. Mary of the Lake in Chicago, and a master of business administration degree from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management in 2006.

He served the Greater Cleveland area as a member of the United Way Council of Agency Executives, the Department of Senior and Adult Services Community Relations Committee, the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging Board Education and Training Committee, the Cleveland Council on Older Persons and the Western Reserve Historical Society Older Persons Advisory Council.

Armour is a native of Northeast Ohio and returned to the area in 2004. He and his wife, Maggie, have a 17-month-old son.
