2 killed in explosion at smelting plant

MONACA, PA.

Two people were killed in an explosion at about 4:40 p.m. today at Horsehead Industries’ zinc smelting plant in Potter Township near here.

A spokesman at the Beaver County emergency dispatch said the explosion did not cause a fire but apparently caused something to collapse on the victims, whose identities were not being released tonight.
