The Trumbull County Educational Service Center governing board has chosen Michael Hanshaw as its new superintendent.

Hanshaw replaces Victoria Giovangnoli, who is retiring after three years in the job. Hanshaw takes over his new position Aug. 1. It pays $99,000 annually.

Hanshaw, currently assistant superintendent, was superintendent in the Weathersfield school district for five years and was also Mineral Ridge High School principal for eight years.

He served as guidance counselor, athletic director and English teacher at Weathersfield before that.

Hanshaw has a bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and a master’s degree from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa.

Missing Liberty woman found

Dorothy H. Hepburn, 82, who had been missing from her Keefer Road home since about 5 p.m. Monday, was found at 9 a.m. Tuesday in a wooded area behind the 1100 block of Lois Lane, about a half-mile from her home.

Melvin Hepburn reported his wife had left their home for a walk but did not return. He told police she may suffer from dementia.

Two homeowners on Lois Lane and Liberty Avenue found Hepburn and carried her out of the wooded area.

Liberty Fire and Rescue responded, and Hepburn was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

About 100 searchers, police and fire personnel from Liberty, Girard, Hubbard, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and volunteers, were involved.
