Baard financing deadline extended

The proposed Baard Energy plant has been given a new extension to Dec. 31 to obtain private financing for its proposed coal-to-liquid-fuel plant.

The Ohio Department of Development recently extended Baard’s deadline to seek investors until Sept. 30. The Columbiana County Port Authority has extended its purchase agreements for the land at the site until the end of this year. Tracy Drake, the chief executive officer for the port authority, said that the project has been delayed because of the poor economy.

RTI enters into 2 deals with Airbus

RTI International Metals has entered into two long-term titanium-fabrication contracts with Airbus, the company announced Tuesday. Under the contracts, which take effect in 2011, RTI will make structural-titanium components for the A350 and A320 aircraft for 10 and five years, respectively. The awards are expected to generate more than $150 million in revenue for the company’s Niles-based titanium division through 2020.

The companies also have modified their long-term supply agreement to allow Airbus more short-term flexibility with its titianium requirements, RTI said in a press release. As part of the modification, Airbus has ordered more titanium-mill product volume for 2010 than RTI anticipated at the beginning of the year.

FirstEnergy stock dividend unchanged

FirstEnergy Corp. declared Tuesday that its common-stock dividend will remain unchanged for the second quarter of 2010. The board of directors announced a quarterly dividend of 55 cents per share of outstanding common stock, payable Sept. 1 to shareholders of record as of Aug. 6.
