YWCA art show inspires several awards for women


YOUNGSTOWN

The YWCA of Youngstown’s 28th annual “Women Artists: A Celebration” art show generated several awards, which were presented during a recent patrons party.

Serving as juror for the show was Dr. Hilary Robinson, dean of the college of fine arts at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Honored for their work:

Women’s Art Committee Award: Catherine Theodore, “Wind Turbine Mania,” textile

Margaret Evans Memorial Award: Kathryn Infante, “Cycle’s End,” photo

MVWS Watermedia Award: Cathy Chill-Milligan, “Kiawah S.C. Marsh,” watercolor

Eileen Scragg Memorial Award: Holly Garvey, “My Mother’s Journey,” photo

3-D or Fiber Award: Dena J. Gershon, “Arctic Ice Floe (UnKimono)” mixed media

Watercolor Award: Chelsea Younkman, “Anxious Thoughts,” watercolor

YWCA Award: Jane Vanden Eynden, “Rose,” archival inkjet

Artists of Mahoning Commons Award: Carolyn Dixon Hrusovsky, “The Dragon’s Eye,” jewelry

Florence L. Gordon Memorial Ceramics Award: Georgia Tambasis, “Blue & Pink & Ruby,” ceramic
