LOUIE TODAY: Celeb reporter Rona Barrett on helping the elderly
Louie will talk with renowned celebrity reporter Rona Barrett Tuesday about the forgotten, lonely elderly.
Barrett spent three decades of her life on television, starting her career on the local Los Angeles station, KABC, graduating to their five owned and operated stations around the country and finally to network TV in 1975, inaugurating "Good Morning America."
She also edited a stable of magazines bearing her name in the 60’s and 70’s, including "Rona Barrett’s Hollywood," "Rona Barrett’s Preview," and "Rona Barrett’s Daytimers."
In more recent years, her focus has been on The Rona Barrett Foundation, which provides recognition to nonprofit organizations that address the most critical challenges faced by low-income seniors. Those include Assisted Living, Day Care centers and other basic needs.
Over the years, the Foundation has been able to help non-profits raise funds to provide housing, basic and medical needs, food and other services for the elderly in need, "who helped make this Country what it is today," she says.
