State grants help Youngstown projects

The city is receiving $570,000 from a state grant to clean up a former asphalt plant and demolish a structure there with the land to be used as part of V&M Star’s $650 million expansion project.

State Rep. Robert F. Hagan of Youngstown, D-60th, and state Sen. Joe Schiavoni of Canfield, D-33rd, announced the state Clean Ohio funding for the work today.

The money will be used to remove asbestos and other harmful materials from a former asphalt plant on South State Street, and then demolish the building.
