vBalloon Quest, noon to 11 p.m.: After morning launches of hot-air balloons, the festival and classic-car show kicks in. Scotland Meadows Park, South Scotland Avenue, which is just off West State Street, about a mile east of Walmart, in New Castle, Pa.; 724-650-5252.

vVictorian Weekend, noon to 5 p.m.: The old ways live at this free festival in Courthouse Square in downtown Mercer, Pa. Today’s schedule includes a classic- and antique-car and motorcycle show. 724-662-4185.

vOur Lady of Mount Carmel Italian Festival, 3 to 11 p.m.: Homemade food, rides, games, music and fireworks on the church grounds at 381 Robbins Ave., Niles.

vHermitage Arts Festival, noon to 5 p.m.: In addition to an artists’ marketplace, there will be musical and theatrical performances and children’s activities on the grounds of Rodney White Olympic Park, Pa. Route 18, a half-mile north of Shenango Mall.

vHungarian picnic, noon: The Hungarian Cultural Center of Northeastern Ohio will have its annual gathering with live music and homemade food at the Hungarian Cultural Center, 12027 Abbott Road, Hiram; 330-274-2786.

“America Now: Children of the Harvest” (7 p.m., NBC): “America Now: Children of the Harvest” is a special yearlong investigation by “Dateline: NBC” that takes viewers into the lives of migrant farm workers and examines the problem of illegal underage child labor.

“Masterpiece MysterY!” (9 p.m., PBS): Super sleuth Hercule Poirot (David Suchet) is still on the case for “Masterpiece Mystery!” Now he’s dealing with a demon-haunted heiress who is convinced she committed murder. But Poirot thinks she’s innocent.

Inspirational music concert at church

SALEM

Sue Deutschlander, a musician and Reiki healer and teacher, will present a concert of her inspirational songs at 7 p.m. July 25 at Holy Trinity English Lutheran Church, 1089 E. State St.

The program will include visual effects, percussion and interpretive dance, as well as music from Deutschlander’s CD, “Songs Inspiring Grace and Hope.”

Guest artists will include vocalist Jessica Speece; violinist Mariana Szalaj; songwriter and photographer Sarah Blocksom; and percussionist Chris Habuda.

One of Blocksom’s framed Angel Photos will be raffled, and an offering will be accepted for the church.

Church festival begins Thursday

GIRARD

St. Rose Church’s summer festival will be Thursday through July 25 on the church grounds, 48 E. Main St.

A homemade lunch will be Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. To order, call 330-545-4351 or fax 330-545-0119.

Rides, food, games and live music will be offered every day. Hours are 6-11 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 5-11 p.m. Saturday; and 4-11 p.m July 25.

The festival will close with a performance by Rudy and the Professionals from 7 to 11 p.m., followed by a fireworks show.
