CORTLAND

Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District will host a Project WILD Workshop for formal and nonformal environmental educators from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Trumbull Agriculture and Family Education Center, 520 West Main St.

Project WILD is an education program emphasizing wildlife and its habitat.

Over 40,000 educators in Ohio are using Project WILD to supplement their curriculum in language arts, math, social studies, music, art, cultural and history studies, geography and the sciences in grades K-12.

Project WILD provides creative, hands-on activities and ways to incorporate them into a variety of teaching and learning styles.

The lessons have been correlated to the State Content Standards in science and align to standards in English and language arts, social studies, technology and math.

All county teachers, home-schoolers, scout and youth leaders are encouraged to attend.

Project WILD is sponsored by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife. The 530-page curriculum guides are available to educators only through attendance at a Project WILD workshop and are free, thanks to the Ohio wildlife tax check-off.

The cost is $12.50 and includes lunch, sample activity supplies and the guide books.

To register, call 330-637-2056, ext. 110.
