Marine Detachment’s 31st annual reunion

YOUNGSTOWN

The Tri-State Marine Detachment’s 31st annual reunion is Aug. 21 at the Italian American Vets banquet hall, 115 S. Meridian Road.

The event, which will include a featured speaker, food, refreshments, door prizes, auction, raffle and music and dancing, begins at 6 p.m. and ends at midnight.

Howitzer reunion

ALLIANCE

The U.S. Armed Forces Retirees Club of the Alliance Armory, Ohio Army National Guard, is planning a reunion party for all former and retired members of Howitzer Battery, 2nd Squadron, 107th Armored Cavalry Regiment on Sept. 25 at the Alliance Armory, 1175 West Vince St., from 2 to 6 p.m.

Medallion for veterans

YOUNGSTOWN

The Department of Veterans Affairs is making available a new medallion for existing privately purchased headstones or markers to signify the deceased’s status as a veteran. This applies to veterans who died on or after Nov. 1, 1990, according to the Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission. Deceased veterans are entitled to a government marker or a medallion, not both. The medallion will be available in three sizes, 5 inches, 3 inches, and 1 Ω inches.
