The Women of Purpose Ministry of the Union Baptist Church, 528 Lincoln Ave., will host a “Women of Victory Celebration” at the 10:45 service July 25.

Danita Harris, Cleveland News Channel 5 anchorwoman and minister at Fresh Wind Ministry in Cleveland, will be guest speaker. She is a board adviser to the Girls Club of Ohio, a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority, National Council of Negro Woman, Kaleidoscope Magazine’s 40/40 Club, board of trustees of the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, a board member of Cleveland Job Corps Center Industry Council and Bellflower Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.

Walk the labyrinth

Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will conduct a guided labyrinth walk from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Villa Maria Community Center. The theme is “Walk in Peace.”

The labyrinth is a tool for enriching the spiritual journey and has geometric forms that define a sacred space.

Sister Therese Pavilonis will offer a brief history and introduction.

Registration is not required but is greatly appreciated. Free-will offerings will be accepted.

A Gospel hymn sing-along is planned July 24 at New Life Christian Fellowship, 2088 Tibbetts-Wick Road.

Fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the music at 7.

New Life Ministries

Youngstown Chapter of Igniting New Life Ministries International, an interdenominational ministry, will meet Monday at Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Park.

Fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the ministry at 7.

Guest speaker will be Anne Marie, author of “Grown Up Child of God.” She is also a teacher and minister of the Gospel.

Community of faith

“Meeting Faith Again for the First Time,” an emerging community of faith, gathers the first and third Sundays of each month except holiday weekends.

The group will meet from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday and Aug. 1 at First Presbyterian Church fellowship room, 890 Church Hill Road.

The community involves people who have drifted from church, been alienated in some way by church, are spiritual but not attracted to church, or are restless in the faith.

They gather for worship, dialogue directed at questions regarding the Christian faith, refreshments and conversation.

Celebration

Austintown Community Evangelical Covenannt Church, 242 S. Canfierld-Niles Road, will celebrate the transfer of ordination of the pastor, the Rev. David B. Roberts, at a service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Pastor Duffy was accepted into the Evangelical Covenant Church at the 125th annual meeting in June in St. Paul, Minn.

The Rev. Richard Lucco, superintendent of the Great Lakes Conference of the ECC will participate in the special recognition and share a message with the congregation. A reception will follow in the atrium.

Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 1210 Himrod Ave., was the site of the Eastern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, North West Virginia Baptist District Association’s 53rd annual session of the Congress of Christian education.

More than 350 delegates were registered including 200 children and youth.

The session is focused on Christian education for 21st century people of faith.

Among participants were Pastor C.A. Richmond, president of the Congress; Pastor Ernest Ellis, moderator of the district; and Pastor J. Dwayne Heard, host pastor.

Four scholarships were awarded on need, academic achievement, community involvement.

The Men and Women in Action Fellowship will conduct a revival at 7 p.m. Sunday through Friday at Abundant Love Outreach Ministry Church, 93 E. Myrtle Ave.
