Funds will continue Lots of Green program in Idora neighborhood

The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. has received $20,000 from the Youngstown Foundation to continue the development of the Lots of Green program. The YNDC’s Lots of Green program transforms neighborhoods through the return of idled land to productive use.

The current focus is in the Idora neighborhood and seeks to reuse over 150 parcels of vacant, abandoned land for productive use through the creation of expanded side yards for existing homeowners, an urban farm and orchards, community gardens, expansion of Mill Creek MetroParks boundaries, passive green space, and the introduction of native plants and rain gardens.
