The Gina Cimmento dancers put on quite a show for family and friends at the annual recital June 19 at Canfield High School. Approximately 100 dancers performed 23 numbers, including tap, jazz, lyrical, ballet, hip hop and pointe.

The dancers, director and choreographer Gina Cimmento Reesey, assistant teacher Lori George and manager June Cimmento prepare for this night starting in September, attending dance classes every week.

Classroom demonstrators include Kerry Kingsley, Lauren Boucherle, Abby Smith, Jenna George and Abigayle George.

Dancers performed to such songs as The Impossible Dream, Mickey, Puttin’ on the Ritz, Ice Ice Baby, Colors of the Wind, Kung Fu Fighting, It’s Raining Men, Macho Man, What a Beautiful Morning and Who Let the Dogs Out.

Senior Erin McGlone performed a lyrical solo to “The Moment I Said It.”

The entire cast performed the finale and each dancer introduced themselves to the audience before being handed a flower. Family members were able to send messages of support and well wishes to their dancer in the recital’s program.

Cimmento Reesey has been teaching dance since she was 13. She has owned a studio for 22 years and has been at her current location in Canfield for eight years. Her mother, June Cimmento, has been with her the entire time, giving the studio a true family feel.

“I applaud, with great gratitude, my dancers’ hard work and dedication to the art of dance,” Cimmento Reesey said.

George has been teaching with Cimmento Reesey for 10 years, but their history goes back farther. They danced together as girls with Linda Diamond.

“Dancing, for me, has been a constant since I was three years old,” George said. “I just love it.”

The studio will be accepting registration for fall classes from Aug. 10-24. Fall classes begin Sept. 20. For more information, call 330-533-2948.
