Melvin Shaw, 18, of Idlewood Avenue was video arraigned Wednesday in Youngstown Municipal Court on charges in the murder of Tracee Banks, 17, and attempted murder of Ohio State University football recruit Jamel Turner, 18.

Youngstown police use force to break up a melee Wednesday morning in the hallway of the Youngstown Municipal Court in City Hall. The fight began between the friends and family members of murder suspect Melvin Shaw and those of shooting victim Tracee Banks. Shaw was arraigned before the melee.

YOUNGSTOWN
The 35-year-old Youngstown man arrested after a murder suspect’s arraignment will appear in court today.
Wade Shaw is charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and assaulting a police officer for his part in a melee following the video arraignment of Melvin S. Shaw II, 18, of Idlewood Avenue.
Melvin Shaw is accused of the June 19 murder of Tracee Banks, 17, and attempting to murder Jamel Turner, 18, of Youngstown. Friends and family of the suspect and victims got into a brawl in a hallway outside of Youngstown Municipal Court on Wednesday.
Wade Shaw was taken to Mahoning County jail, where he’s held on $5,000 bond.
He wasn’t the only person arrested Wednesday in connection with the fight.
Ovidio Santiago, 40, was arrested for disorderly conduct, but not taken to jail. Instead, Santiago was given a summons and appeared in court Thursday on the misdemeanor charge.
The fallout from the shooting continued late in the day Wednesday.
Lisa Robinson, 44, filed an aggravated menacing report with Youngstown police around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Robinson, the mother of Melvin Shaw, told police two vehicles drove past her house repeatedly. Inside one of the vehicles, four males said “We are going to shoot your house up. It is going to happen tonight.” No arrests have been made in that incident.
