Drug-dealing suspect loses pants, gets shocked
Staff Report
Youngstown
An accused drug dealer fled police on the city’s East Side but tripped over his pants and a fallen tree. Still resisting arrest, he had to be subdued with an electric shock, police say.
Michael L. Miller of Saranac Avenue was charged with permitting drug abuse, resisting arrest, trafficking in drugs and failure to comply with a police order, or eluding or fleeing, Wednesday evening.
Members of Youngstown police and the Drug Enforcement Agency saw Miller engage in a hand-to-hand drug deal on Oak Street, according to the police report. When Miller drove away in his car, police followed him and pulled him over on North Garland Avenue after he turned without signaling. Miller stopped the car and turned it off, but as police stepped out of the cruisers, Miller fled in the car.
Miller ran a red light and circled a block three times before his tire failed. He ran out of the car, tossing a plastic bag and cell phone to the ground, police said.
Then his pants fell down and he tripped over a fallen tree. As police attempted to handcuff him, he fought back and reached for his waist. He was given an electric shock, arrested and taking to Mahoning County jail.
Police recovered six small bags and one large bag of marijuana, and $406 from Miller, the report said.
