Army food service competition continues Saturday

NEWTON FALLS

The Woodlawn-based Support Company, 216th Engineer Battalion, is competing at Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center for regional honors in the 43rd annual Philip A. Connelly Food Service Competition, which recognizes excellence in Army Food Service.

The unit earned the right to compete by taking first place honors for the state in August 2009.

During the four-day regional competition, which ends Saturday, the 20-man team cooked a meal made from scratch in a mobile kitchen trailer for 50 troops.

The kitchen was set up in a tactical wooded environment.
