The Fish Samaritan House picks up donations for free

YOUNGSTOWN

Fish Samaritan House, 17 Kenmore Ave., now offers free pickups from most locations across Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull counties.

The mission and purpose of the Fish Samaritan House is to provide support services to individuals and families who have expressed a need for free emergency food, clothing, furniture, appliances and other household items. “The Fish,” as it is fondly called, will also accept referrals from a broad range of local community- and religious-based organizations for low and moderate income families.

From Monday through Friday there will be free pickup of donated household, business and clothing items. The Fish will pick up unsold yard- and garage-sale items and will remove donated items from a basement. Special Saturday pickups can be arranged.

All donated items, which are completely tax deductible, are sold in the thrift store to support the mission to help those who are in need of assistance. Shoppers who find large treasures in the thrift store can make arrangements for home delivery at a nominal fee. Call director Clarence Thigpen to schedule pickup of your donations.

Store hours are from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information call 330-746-4190.
