ODOT worker gets electrical shock in accident
YOUNGSTOWN
Police said an Ohio Department of Transportation worker driving a tractor got an electrical shock and a cut on his cheek when a car forced him to swerve along the Mahoning Avenue entrance ramp to Interstate 680.
The worker, Richard Sause, 52, of DeSoto Avenue, Youngstown, told police he was driving up the ramp when a car suddenly entered behind him, forcing him to swerve to avoid being hit. His tractor, equipped with a mower deck, struck a utility pole, causing live electric lines to fall on the tractor roof, giving him an electric shock, he told police. The car kept going.
Police said Sause was trapped on the tractor until an Ohio Edison crew could reach the scene and cut power to the lines. He was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
