Area businesses are having their second annual customer-appreciation days.
Members of the Cornersburg Business Association of Youngstown are teaming up to offer customers free or fun events Friday to Sunday.
CBAY wants “to draw attention to Cornersburg,” said Christine Smith, CBAY member and owner of the Cornersburg Dairy Queen. “It’s a nice place to shop, to dine, to live.”
CBAY’s goal is to protect and beautify Cornersburg, Smith said.
The organization has sold coupon booklets to raise money for “Welcome to Cornersburg” signs. Eventually, they plan to raise enough money to purchase street lamps and planters to bring a cohesive look to the area.
Canfield, Boardman, Austintown and Youngstown come together in Cornersburg, Smith said.
“We’d like to get some matching things and kind of hold this area together,” Smith said. “Even though we’re not the same community, to kind of make it that way” is the plan.
Included in the customer appreciation days are:
Specials at Dairy Queen from 7 to 9 p.m. each day, llamas from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, and an inflatable slide from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
A free car wash from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cornersburg Baptist Church. The church also will provide free face painting at Belleria Pizza on Saturday.
Free pony rides and balloon animals at Belleria Pizza from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Other businesses also will offer specials.
