Shaw remains jailed after arraignment; police probe fight

YOUNGSTOWN — Melvin S. Shaw II, of Idlewood Avenue, remains jailed today after being arraigned in the June 19 murder of Tracee Banks, 17, and the attempted murder of Jamel Turner, 18, Youngstown police said.

Shaw turned himself in to authorities Tuesday and appeared at 10 a.m. today in Youngstown Municipal Court.

Shaw is being held on a $750,000 security cash bond on the murder charge and $500,000 for attempted murder.

After the court appearance, a fight broke out apparently between family members and supporters of Shaw and Banks. Police are investigating.
