Philly most favored new destination from Youngstown airport for business travelers

VIENNA

Despite business setbacks in recent years, the 277 Mahoning Valley business and government workers surveyed in May and June still take 1,350 round trip business flights per year — or about 3.7 passengers per day.

These people — some of whom spend as much as $75,000 per year on air travel to conferences, sales calls and visits to other offices — would most like to see service from the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport to Philadelphia International Airport.

That is one of the conclusions reached in a market study conducted by Sixel Consulting Group Inc., of Eugene, Ore.

The survey was done to determine what destinations local business people would most like to use, as Dan Dickton, the recently hired director of aviation at the local airport, continues to talk to airlines about bringing their service here.

Dickton released the results of the survey at the monthly meeting of Western Reserve Port Authority Wednesday at the Youngstown Business Incubator.
